Final Exam Review Summary
This document briefly summarizes the final exam review discussion that was presented in class on May 5th.
The final exam is comprehensive, i.e., addresses all material covered during the entire semester. However, the focus will be on material covered after the second midterm exam, namely text chapters 12-14, 17, 19-23, 27-31. All material in these chapters is examinable except that there will be no questions that require memorization of bit and field positions of message/packet formats nor will you be required to memorize the multitude of well-known port assignments.
The exam will not contain true/false or multi-choice questions. The exam will focus on key concepts from the textbook. There may be questions that require you to problem solve, provide important descriptions and/or comparisons, and/or list advantages and disadvantages. One strategy to consider is to outline the chapters.
Extra Important: If you have very limited time to study, be sure to not neglect the following material:
· TCP (12.1 to 12.7 inclusive)
· RIP algorithms and problems (Review sections 13.1 & 13.2: there will not be slides posted for this chapter)
· Mail delivery
· Security! (including the different encryption techniques)
· Mobile IP, VPN and NAT
Study hard and I wish you the best of luck!
