CSC 477/677 Assignment 1

Due date: Thursday, January 27, 2011, 4:00 PM.

All assignments must be handwritten (not typed or printed from a computer file) in your own handwriting, on 8.5 by 11 inch paper, or on A4 paper. Write your name on each sheet, and do not fold the pages or crimp the corners. (You may use a paper clip or a staple.)
Turn the pages in to me or the teaching assistant on or before the due date (except for those problems you are not supposed to turn in).
  1. Work Problem 3-3 a. on page 58 of your textbook before Tuesday, January 25. Do not hand it in. We will go over it in class.
    This problem is in the third edition as well, but on a different page.
  2. Work Exercise 4.1-1 on page 67 of the second edition.
  3. Work Exercise 4.1-6 on page 67 of the second edition.
  4. Work Exercise 4.1-6 on page 67 of the second edition.
  5. Work Exercise 4.3-1 on page 75 of the second edition.
  6. Work Problem 4-1 on page 85 of the second edition.
